AppliedVR Provides Veterans Alternative CLBP Treatment

Article

RelieVRx enables Veterans a non-pharmacological, noninvasive treatment option.

AppliedVR, an immersive therapeutics (ITx) company that provides a virtual-reality approach to medicine, announced a contract with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide its FDA-authorized RelieVRX solution to select Veterans impacted by chronic lower back pain (CLBP).

The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) provides care to more than 9 million Veterans, making it the largest integrated healthcare system in the U.S. Further, more than 50% of Veterans who receive care at VHA facilities are affected by chronic pain. The contract calls for healthcare providers at 18 VHA locations to be able to prescribe the FDA-authorized RelieVRx program to Veterans for use in their homes.

The program enables Veterans access to non-pharmacological, noninvasive treatment options like virtual reality. RelieVRx is indicated as an adjunctive treatment for CLBP and its eight-week program has been clinically demonstrated to decrease pain severity and pain interference in the lives of people experiencing CLBP.
